Three Men in a Boat – 1 week Countdown!

Three Men in a Boat fundraising for Shipston Home Nursing

Practice makes Perfect for Three Men in a Boat

With one week of training to go, this week Will, David and Jonathan took to the water in Stratford. This was to practice their rowing skills and promote their ‘Three Men in A Boat’ fundraising challenge. Look out for them in Junes edition of the Stratford Focus Magazine!

David Williams, Johnathan Davies, and William Drysdale will be sculling the 85 miles to London, dressed in full period boating wear. The three oarsmen will start their challenge at Donnington Bridge in Oxford on Monday 24th May, and then row to London, aiming to arrive at Walton-on-Thames on Saturday 29th May.

They have raised an amazing £6,500 towards their target of £10,000. And with your help we can make this happen by donating today virginmoneygiving.com/fund/3meninaboat.

The pandemic has forced the team to make a few changes to ensure the safety of the rowers. As a result, instead of sleeping on board the crew are now planning to camp on the banks of the Thames. The boat has an easily erectable canvas cover, which can be used for shelter from the sun and rain. And at night, it converts the craft into a floating tent. Under normal circumstances, this would have enabled the rowers to experience river life up close, as featured in Three Men in a Boat.

The majority of our Fundraising events cancelled last year. However, we have been overwhelmed by the support form individuals, groups and the community who have supported Shipston Home Nursing. This will help us continue to provide our FREE Hospice at Home Care to families and patients who needs us.
