Dr Chris Thorogood

I have been involved with Shipston Home Nursing as Trustee since the inception of the charity in 1997. As a GP I have seen the major benefit of SHN for patients over the last fourteen years. During this period the charity has expanded and now provides hospice at home care for a large swathe of South Warwickshire. Sadly death is inevitable; evidence suggests most of us wish to die comfortably with complete symptom control in our own homes with our families. Shipston Home Nursing enables this to happen.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Janet Oakey and Shirley Carr and their highly professional, skilled and compassionate nursing team without whom the charity could not function. Patients, their families and fellow professionals all give their universal acclaim to the team.
I would also like to thank Rebecca and her fund raising team for the phenomenal amount of time and effort that go into raising the funds you all donate to keep the charity going. Lastly I would like to thank my fellow Trustees for all the work that they undertake quietly in the background to ensure that the charity runs smoothly, legally and with financial probity.

My successor as Chairman of SHN will be Dr Clive Irwin who has been a Trustee of the charity for several years and is a consultant oncologist (cancer specialist) in both University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire and in Warwick hospital. He lives locally in Moreton Morrell. I am certain that his input will continue to enable SHN to thrive and develop.
